Welcome to helenhudspith.com

If you have resources to share, please
get in touch via the "contact me" page.

This website has been provided to collect together resources which can be used and adapted by teachers and trainees within schools. All resources have been provided willingly and free of charge by the creators so that we can build a wide selection of helpful material.

Please respect the fact that resource preparation is time consuming. Contribute and share any resources you may have yourself, as this is the way the site was originally built and will continue to grow. People have been very kind with their contributions so far and we are hoping that this will continue so that we can build up as large a resource as possible for teachers and trainees to dip into as they need it.

By all means take the resources on this page and use them in any way that suits your project, but please also give your own resources if you can.

Most recent additions to the site:
Please remember that we are working hard to build up all of the sections seen here. If you have any resources to contribute, drop me an Email via the contact page. The more resources we have on the site, the more users it gets, and that in turn means that there is more chance that others may contribute a resource you can use.

Graphics:
Graphics is an area that I am specifically interested in developing further.

Anthea Hearne has sent a packaging project to go along with the "Pugglies" projects in the textiles section. It is listed under the blue "packaging heading" on the graphics page.

Stephen Charleston has sent a drawing skills powerpoint and a slot together iPhone stand design project. Both have been added to the graphics page.

Lee Taylor has sent a range of resources to do with designing a music festival and associated marketing products. I have listed these under the "technology / music themed" heading.

Textiles:
Jill Crompton has submitted a theory powerpoint with some information about different fabrics. It can be found under Fabric Construction on the textiles page. She also has submitted a power point about inspirational textiles for year 7. This can be found under Embellishments on the textiles page.

Dawn Naylor has submitted a scheme of work and introductory presentation on creating a grafitti drawstring bag.

Margaret Porter has sent 4 workbooks in. They are all on different topics (decorative techniques, fabrics and fibres etc), just look down the list on the textiles page for her name.

Resistant Materials:
Rachel Rooney has Emailed a cultural desk tidy project with schemes of work and lesson plans included. It has been added under the Desk Tidy heading on the resistant materials page.

Stephen Charleston has submitted a full workbook relating to educational toys, including research into wood joints and testing and evaluation of a finished product. It is available to download under the heading, toys / cams / motion on the resistant materials page. Also in this section is a checklist to accompany the above workbook, and a further booklet relating to designing and making a perpetual calendar.

Michael King has submitted a selection of DT focussed starter activities. These have been added to both the starters and RM pages.

Product Design:
Sally Hamma has sent two detailed powerpoints about material properties. I have added these to the theory resources section on the product design page.

Dawn Naylor has added a powerpoint about Bauhaus and an introduction to a project about designing a lamp for a teenager's room.

Leon Cox has sent resources for four projects: clocks; keyrings; jewellery and a "desk friend". I have added these under relevant headings on the product design page.

HSC:
Judy Taylor has sent a variety of resources for NVQ Health Care. I have added these to the Health and Social Care pages.

Shazana Kouser has sent activities related to pregnancy job roles, confidentiality for paotients and a task about budgeting and managing a hopsital. All are on the HSC page. Just scroll down and look for her name.

Rebecca Pallas has added further resources for the section on illness / disability.

Food:
James Sharp has sent a coursework ticksheet project which will help anyone who is looking for AQA food technology.

Margaret Porter has sent 5 workbooks in. They are all on different topics (biscuits, , just look down the list on the food page for her name.

A revision powerpoint about Fish has been added to the food page - I have added a new blue section specifically for fish.

Jonathan Hawkins has sent a range of resources that could be used as homework, cover work or focussed tasks in class. There is a "Design an Ice Cream Sundae" task, "Design an Animal Cracker" and "Design a Celebration Cake". I have tried to add these under a relevant section on the food page so just look out for his name.

Systems:
Paul Rooks has sent in Powerpoints about creating a cyber pet and an electronic die. Both can be incorporated into graphics or product design projects but as they are largely electronics based presentations I have added them to the electronics/systems page.

Engineering:
I have added a year 7 full scheme of work produced by teachers in the department at my school. It is for a metal coat hook project and includes all worksheets and presentations which can be adapted for use. To make this project, you will need steel squares 100 x 100 mm and a spot welder. You will also need cutting and shaping tools for metal.

General:
Stephen Charleston has contributed two files about National Curriculum levelling. These have been placed under the "Assessment" heading.

Paul Kennedy has supplied a Family Fortunes adaptable powerpoint file. The has been added to the games section.

Shellie Roberts has sent an evaluation/specification task that could be useful for a range of subjects so I have listed it on this page.

Starters:
Michael King has submitted a selection of DT focussed starter activities. These have been added to both the starters and RM pages.

Richard Whitehurst has sent in a range of excellent DT starters which can be easily adapted to any topic.

Links:
I have included a link to QuickLink Systems' creative KS3 electronics resources and have added links to the graphics and general sections on the links page, including urban papercraft and the Web Urbanist.

This page is being rebuilt after I lost the original. Please submit any links you'd like to add via the contact page.

Many thanks to all contributors for your efforts.
