Welcome to helenhudspith.com

If you have resources to share, please
get in touch via the "contact me" page.

This website has been provided to collect together resources which can be used and adapted by teachers and trainees within schools. All resources have been provided willingly and free of charge by the original creators so we can build a wide selection of helpful material.

Please respect the fact that resource preparation is time consuming. Contribute and share any resources you may have yourself as this is the way the site was originally built and will continue to grow. People have been very kind with their contributions so far and we are hoping that this will continue so that we can build up as large a resource as possible for teachers and trainees to dip into as they need it.

By all means take the resources on this page and use them in any way that suits your project, but please also give your own resources if you can.

GCSE students should also be aware that copying and pasting information from these resources into your coursework is cheating and can result in wiithdrawal of your coursework.

Most recent additions to the site:
Graphics:
Please remember that we are working hard to build up all of the sections seen here. If you have any resources to contribute please send them to me via the contact page. The more resources we have on the site, the more users it gets and that in turn means that there is more chance that others may contribute a resource you an use. Graphics is an are that I am specifically interested in developing further.

Lee Taylor has sent a range of resources to do with designing a music festival and associated marketing products. Ihave listed these under the "technology / music themed" heading.

Jonathan Hawkins has sent a range of resources that could be used as homework, cover work or focussed tasks in class. They could fit into several categories including food, graphics and product design so I have decided to put them all on the graphics page. Each one fitted well within another category of project so just look down the lists for Jonathan's name.

Angela Marsh has sent in two resources that she uses to introduce Graphics - they are right at the top of the graphics page - and she has also sent two resources about sustainability and recycling that I have added to the theory resources section.

Kate Manley has sent in resources on pop-up cards, children's restaurant menus, CD compilation packaging, Easter egg packaging (including Techsoft 2D Design nets), logo design, name badges and perspective drawing. I have given many of these their own sections on the graphics page so if you have more to add to these, please let me know.

Textiles:
Angela Marsh has sent in two resources about adding a finish to fabrics. I have added them under the embellishments section.

Mrym Afzal Mursaleen has sent a resource about CAD/CAM in textiles. It is added under the "Equipment" section on the textiles page.

Ann Finnigan has sent some activities relates to labelling a Bernina sewing machine. I have added them under the "Equipment" heading.

Resistant Materials:
Fiona McGregor has adapted the original Health and Safety exercise about labelling the unsafe features of the boy's and girl's outfit and made it into an accompanying powerpoint. I have added this under the safety section.

I have been sent a safety quiz by Penny Young and have added this to the safety section.

I have added a powerpoint which flashes up different tools to display on the board during practical lessons. I have also added three of my own worksheets to help with safety in the workshop and also to give those fast-finishing students something to do whilst others in the class are completing practical work. They are listed under the blue "safety" heading on the RM page.

Product Design:
Phil Mousley has sent a powerpoint for a Y7 CAD/CAM keyring project to encourage students to learn independently whilst CAD/CAM work is being undertaken. The powerpoint can be adapted for any subject to encourage students to learn autonomously. Phil created this after a training session with Paul Ginnis.

I have received some resources on clocks and chairs from Allen Ibbotson, these have been added to the relevant sections.

I have totally re-ordered this page so that practical resources are at the top and theory resources are near the bottom. If looking through these sections helps you to realise that you may have reources to add, please send them over via the contact page.

HSC:
Judy Taylor has sent a variety of resources for NVQ Health Care. I have added these to the Health and Social Care pages.

Shazana Kouser has sent activities related to pregnancy job roles, confidentiality for paotients and a task about budgeting and managing a hopsital. All are on the HSC page. Just scroll down and look for her name.

Rebecca Pallas has added further resources for the section on illness / disability.

Food:
Jonathan Hawkins has sent a range of resources that could be used as homework, cover work or focussed tasks in class. There is a "Design an Ice Cream Sundae" task, "Design an Animal Cracker" and "Design a Celebration Cake". I have tried to add these under a relevant section on the food page so just look out for his name

Kathy Fontaine has sent in 3 schemes of work for the new 2010+ AQA food spec. I have put them near the top of the food page.

Sally Dobbs has sent a Powerpoint about HACCP. It is listed under the HEalth and Safety section on the food page.

Systems:
Paul Rooks has sent in Powerpoints about creating a cyber pet and an electronic die. Both can be incorporated into graphics or product design projects but as they are largely electronics based presentations I have added them to the electronics/systems page.

Engineering:
I have added a year 7 full scheme of work produced by teachers in the department at my school. It is for a metal coat hook project and includes all worksheets and presentations which can be adapted for use. To make this project, you will need steel squares 100 x 100 mm and a spot welder. You will also need cutting and shaping tools for metal.

General:
I have re-ordered this page into sections to help clarify what information is on there. I have split it into smaller sections, including planning, designing, research and plenaries.

Shellie Roberts has sent an evaluation/specification task that could be useful for a range of subjects so I have listed it on this page.

Resources adaptable to any DT subject have been moved here.

Starters:
Richard Whitehurst has sent in a range of excellent DT starters which can be easily adapted to any topic.

Links:
I have added links to the graphics and general sections on the links page, including urban papercraft and the Web Urbanist.

This page is being rebuilt after I lost the original. Please submit any links you'd like to add via the contact page.

Many thanks to all contributors for your efforts.
